There’s a moment in every practitioner’s journey when the atmosphere shifts.

You’re walking through your days, lighting your candles, tending your altar, doing all the “right” things—and yet something starts to feel… off. The light in your space feels dimmer. People who once aligned now agitate your spirit. You’re tired, quick to doubt yourself, or questioning if you’re even still walking the right path.

That moment? That’s your spirit whispering:

It’s time to remove something.

Sometimes it’s a buildup of energy that’s been clinging to you over time—unprocessed emotions, fear, scarcity mindset, or simply the weight of too many eyes on your light.

Other times, it’s much more direct—someone sending jealousy, manipulation, or ill will your way, whether consciously or not.

In either case, this is when we clear the space. We remove. We return to center.

Knowing When It’s Time to Remove Energy

Your body will usually tell you before your mind can catch up.

Look for these common signs:

• Sudden heaviness in the chest or a tightness around the shoulders after interacting with someone or entering a space

• Brain fog, lack of creative clarity, or anxiety that feels spiritual—not mental

• Repeating obstacles, money delays, unexplained tech issues, or dreams filled with shadows

• Feelings of being watched, drained, or “off” in your own home—even after spiritual maintenance

If you’ve already saged the house, taken your baths, and prayed your prayers… and the weight still lingers—then it’s time to bring in Banishing or Reversal magick.

Banishing: Clearing the Weight That Lingers

Banishing magick is spiritual sanitation. It clears away anything that’s overstayed its welcome—old thought patterns, energetic residue from others, self-doubt, envy, past lovers, or vibrations that were never yours to carry.

This is not about returning harm. Banishing is pure release. A way to say, “You no longer live here.”

Use this when:

• You’re feeling foggy or stuck creatively

• There’s tension in your home or spiritual space

• You’re closing out a relationship, habit, or phase

• You’ve been around heavy, negative environments or people

To use candle magick for banishing:

1. Use a Banishing Candle or dress a black candle with some of my favorite banishing herbs like hyssop, rue, or cayenne.

2. Anoint with a banishing (Pluto Death Oil) or uncrossing oil—I make mine with bold but balanced ingredients for a strong yet graceful release.

3. Place the candle on a mirror or upside-down plate (to reflect energy away).

4. Carve your intention into the wax or write it on parchment and place it beneath.

5. Light it with a clear heart and let it burn down fully—this is your command to the spirit world: “Out.”

It’s normal to feel lighter, clearer, and a bit emotional afterward.

Don’t rush to fill the space—let the release breathe. I love to just simply go to sleep after I’m done my magickal work. It works 100% of the time ;)

Reversal Magick: When You’re Under Spiritual Attack

Reversal is not the same as banishing—and it’s important not to confuse the two.

Reversal magick isn’t about cleansing energy.

It’s about redirecting it.

When energy has been intentionally or consistently sent toward you (whether through gossip, envy, spellwork, or even subconscious hatred), reversal work catches it—and sends it back to the sender with force.

This is advanced work. It’s rooted deeply in Hoodoo, and it should be done with clarity, confidence, and full alignment. You’re not cursing. You’re not wishing harm. You’re simply saying: “Whatever you sent, may it return to you multiplied. I release it from my field.”

Use Reversal candle magick when:

• You’re experiencing relentless obstacles with no logical cause

• You’ve received a spiritual warning (via dreams, omens, or your ancestors)

• You feel psychically attacked, spiritually watched, or consistently drained

• You’ve been intentionally hexed, crossed, or bound

To work a Reversal candle at your altar:

1. Use a double-action candle (typically black on top, red on bottom) or a fixed reversal candle that’s been dressed for the work.

2. Flip the candle upside down and carve the wick into the opposite end—this symbolizes energy turning back on the sender.

3. Anoint with Reversal or Return to Sender oil—I make mine with black pepper, sulfur, wormwood, and additional powerful herbs that I keep under lock and key.

4. Place mirrors or reflective surfaces around it to amplify the return.

5. Call on your protective spirits and ancestors as you light it. Speak clearly:

“Return what is not mine. Remove what is not aligned. What you’ve sent, you shall now find.”

Let the candle burn undisturbed. Afterward, dispose of the remains away from your home—never in your trash. Flush, bury, or discard far from your space.

The Final Step: Protection

Once you’ve banished or reversed energy, you are left with an opening—a cleansed spiritual field. And it must be sealed and protected.

Protection oils are not just about warding off harm. They’re about reinforcing the sovereignty of your energy. They create a barrier that keeps your spirit intact as you move through the world. I anoint myself daily—behind the ears, on my wrists, at the nape of the neck. I dress my doorways, my car, my altar, even my baby’s crib.

If you’ve done any sort of clearing work, always follow up with protection:

• Apply the oil on your skin and visualize golden light enveloping your aura

• Dress white candles with it to hold space while you sleep

• Trace protective sigils above your door or on paper using a few drops

• Pour a little into your floor wash or mop water to ward your entire home

Your power is not just in the clearing—it’s in what you choose to call back in.

You don’t need a full altar to do this work. Your breath is a spell. Your body is a temple. Your intention is enough.
